PorN.Y. by Malph
It’s New York Fashion Week, yet again! Time to look at some new and exciting collections.
Private Paparazzi Productions had a chance to be a part of a very unusual fashion show at Gansevoort Park on Friday, February 20th.
The Italian life style magazine, Uomo Moderno, presented the 2016 Winter Collection by “Malph”, entitled “PorN.Y.”
The collection was inspired by the fast food industry and the insane power of marketing images that entice us, even preying on our weakness.
It was one shockingly avant-garde fashion show by Luca Gregorio of Malph, who was awarded the honor of “Italy’s Best Emerging Designer” by Italy’s Chamber of Commerce.
The utterly kooky show was enacted by students of the New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts in a silent skit or fashion vignette, which I like to call a fash-ignette.
In a “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” type of setting, a 1950’s psychiatric hospital, the patients portrayed consumers.
The nurses, who represent fast food, treat the patients with French fries and hamburgers, but they simply become increasingly crazy.
In the end, however, the patients rise up and force the nurse to eat their own food!
The creative ideas and attention to detail with Francesco Di Maio, editor-in-chief of Uomo Moderno, never stop surprising.
Every show with this stellar ode to Italian style is a party with a cool crowd, fierce fashions, and delicious drinks in a fabulous venue.
We all look forward to many more to be a part of!
